This year we are celebrating God’s great and supernatural gift of reconciliation, both with Him and with one other. Brent Detwiler and Danny Jones will preach the truth of God’s precious Word during the main sessions and lead us in seeing the theological implications of reconciliation on our doctrine and faith well as the practical application of reconciliation in our every day relationships. There will also be extended times of worship and fellowship together, and one whole evening devoted to learning about and rejoicing in what God is doing through the mission of Sovereign Grace.

Brent Detwiler
Brent has served on the Sovereign Grace Ministries leadership team since its inception in 1982. He serves Sovereign Grace churches throughout the southeastern United States and supplies leadership for our international involvement in parts of Asia and the Caribbean.

Brent received a B.A. degree in biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1976. After receiving a Master of Divinity degree from Melodyland School of Theology in Anaheim, California, in 1979, he returned to IUP as a campus minister for Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. In 1980 he became the first senior pastor of what is now Sovereign Grace Church in Indiana (PA). Two years later, Brent and his wife, Jenny, were sent out to Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland, so he could serve on the emerging leadership team for Sovereign Grace Ministries and as the executive director for the Leadership Training School and later School of Ministry (forerunner of the Pastors College).

A year later, in 1983, Brent and his family moved to northern Virginia so Brent could serve as interim senior pastor of the newly adopted Fairfax Covenant Church (now Sovereign Grace Church). In 1985 and 1987, the Detwilers relocated for six weeks and three months, respectively, to help establish Sovereign Grace churches in Daytona Beach and Orlando, Florida. In 1991, they were sent out from Fairfax (with Bob Kauflin and his family) to plant CrossWay Community Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brent served there as senior pastor through 2002. From this church base, he now serves our larger mission.

Brent and Jenny have four children and two grandchildren. They live in the University City area of northeast Charlotte.

Danny Jones
Danny is Metro’s Senior Pastor. He founded the church in 1985, beginning as a prayer meeting of several families in his home. Having served as a pastor for eleven years in three different churches, he gathered with his family and friends to seek for New Testament reality-wholehearted commitment to the local church, genuine friendships, and a biblical lifestyle. Danny has the privilege of guiding our overall mission as a church in reaching Central Florida and beyond with the Gospel. He leads our pastoral team here locally and also travels to our related Sovereign Grace Ministries churches in Florida and the Caribbean, caring for their pastoral teams and serving in any way he can. Married over 30 years, Melodye and Danny have four children, two of which are married and now have children of their own.
