Back To School Supplies Drive and Event

Local Mission Updated

I know in the middle of the Summer it seems unspeakable, but school is just around the corner. For many this means it's time for a trip to Target or Walmart to get school supplies for their kids. However, the reality for many families in our community is they won't have the money to send their kids to class with all the supplies they need.

Within the past week both the City of Casselberry and the Refugee Church Alliance have approached us with a request. Will we collect and help provide school supplies for children in need. The supplies we collect will go directly into the hands of students who go to elementary schools a mile from our church and into the hands of the little boys and girls who play soccer with us on Saturday mornings.

All of this will culminate in two separate events where the school supplies will be given away. The Casselberry Police Department will give away their supplies through their own event. However, the Refugee Church Alliance has asked if we would consider hosting their yearly event on our last day of pickup socccer (August 11th). Summit Church has hosted this event for the past several years and would love to send volunteers to help with this event. But I don't want them to show up to an empty house. So, please consider volunteering to organize supplies and handout backpacks.

You can sign up here!

If you can't come to the event please still help us collect as much supplies as possible. The more we collect the more children and families we can bless. Here is a list of all the supplies they could use:

  • Scientific Calculators
  • #2 Pencils
