Music and Worship: Sunday, October 2nd, 2016

Good afternoon!

It's a crazy week for our city and our state as many brace for the coming storm. But, in the midst of preparations, it can be helpful to take a moment and be reminded of truth and the goodness of our God. Here are the songs we sang together this past Sunday, as well as some of the scriptures that inform them. May our eyes be ever fixed on our Lord, who is sitting on the throne and in control of all things!

We hope you are encouraged by the truths that you hear and read below.

Open My Eyes

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)

This Is Amazing Grace

"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations..." (Deuteronomy 7:9)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Jesus, True and Only

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9 ESV)

"But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." (Romans 12:1 ESV)

Worthy Worthy

"Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
'Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!'" (Revelation 5:11-12)
