Quotes & Thoughts for Application: Seize the Day to Share Jesus Christ!

colossians_sermonThis past Sunday we studied God's Word in Colossians 4:5-6 where it says the following:

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

We wanted to share a couple of the quotes from the sermon as well as some thoughts for application, the audio will be online for you to review as well... Seize the Day today to Share Jesus Christ Metro Life Church!

“If this distinction is a correct one, it immediately commends itself by its sanity and realism. Harm can be done by sincere believing people who feel compelled to preach and testify to those with whom they mix in shop and office. Rightly aware of the importance of their message, the sad ignorance of many of their neighbors, and the urgency of the times, they plunge in bravely (whatever the temperature!). But direct assault on entrenched apathy is seldom successful and can never be carried out by normally sensitive people without great cost to nerve and confidence. Alas, one consequence of failure of such verbal witnessing is discouragement sufficiently severe at times to lead to disengagement from this part of the battle altogether.” - John Stott, Colossians, pg .174

From a college graffiti wall - “Jesus said to them, ‘Who do you say that I am?’ And they replied, “You are the eschatological manifestation of the ground of our being, the kerygma in which we find ultimate meaning of our interpersonal relationships.’ And Jesus said, ‘What?’” - R. Kent Hughes, Colossians, pg. 128

Thoughts for Application:

  • Pray for an increase in faith and desire to Seize the Day to Share Jesus Christ.

  • Is there opportunity with someone you felt you 'missed the moments' with in the past?

  • Ask yourself: Is my life demonstrating to “outsiders” I am not my own Master?

  • How would you fill in the blank?  “I want [__________________] to be sitting next to me here in the next 6 weeks.”
  • What steps can you take to help this happen?
