The Thrill of VICTORY – DAVID – a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:21-23)
The AGONY of DEFEAT – DAVID – you’re the man (2 Sam 12:7)
When we hear the name of David mentioned in the Scriptures, what comes to most of our minds? I don’t know about you, but my mind immediately remembers how David was called a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:21-23... Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’ Of this man's offspring God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as He promised.) But how often do I need to remember when Nathan, the prophet, confronted David over his sin with Bathsheba when he proclaimed, you’re the man (2 Sam 12:7a Nathan said to David, “You are the man! )
David experienced the highest of highs in victory over many things and the lowest of lows as he was reminded of the sinfulness of his own heart – this year in our 5th Sunday women’s ministry meetings we want to delve a little more into the life of David and see how we are so much alike. Most of us have not called to be the head of state, region or kingdom (a king, queen, prince or ruler) but we have been called HIS BELOVED DAUGHTERS. Make plans to join us now as we enter into the THRILL OF VICTORY...THE AGONY OF DEFEAT and see what the LORD would have to say to us.
