The Shoes

3

When I was a little girl I had a favorite aunt. One of the things I loved about her was she wore a size five shoe. She also often wore high heels to augment her 4’11” frame. When I would visit, she would open her closet for me to prance around in her high heels. I loved it. I felt like such a lady. This was a short season though, because by the time I was about eight years old, my feet had passed the size of hers. I remember the sadness. I was not a big fan of growing up.

Though some may argue the fact, I eventually did grow up. I married an amazing man, had four kids, and became a grandmother. I have watched my daughter and now my granddaughters traipse around in my shoes. I confess – it’s fun on both sides of the shoe analogy.

So, why am I sitting here thinking about wearing my aunt’s shoes? Because I am going to be writing the Harvest Table blog. The blog previously written by Shirley Corbett. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill!
So, on behalf of more ladies than you could ever count, I want to thank Shirley Corbett for the wisdom, encouragement, insight, prayers and love that she has lavished on the ladies of Metro Life Church (and beyond). Thank you, Shirley, for the time you have carved out for us. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord in every season of life. It honors Him and blesses and motivates us to be more like our Heavenly Father.

Now, I’ll take these reigns for a while; and we will see what the Lord has in store for the ladies who read this blog. One thing He keeps saying to me over and over is – I love these women. They are my daughters. I care for them, and I want to bless them.

It's already good Bonnie !!

Shirley is lovely and wonderful and full of wisdom... No argument there. But no one on this earth has shared more love, encouragement, wisdom and laughter with me more than you. I'm excited to read this blog and see other ladies glean a bit of all you have to offer too!
Oh, and I'm thankful that we wear the same size and I can occasionally borrow your shoes still!

Our Lord has much to say through you, Bonnie...you will do Him proud...Step into the brand new shoes He has offered you and run with Him as He takes you to new places and new wisdom....
